Mario Day 2026 Celebrates 40 Years of Super Mario Bros On March 10th

Mario Day is here, and Nintendo is using March 10 to celebrate in a big way.

This year’s MAR10 Day is special because it marks the 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. and is also generating excitement for The Super Mario Bros. Movie, coming to theaters on April 1st.

On March 9th, Nintendo released the final trailer for the movie, ending with the tagline, “It takes a lot of star power to save the galaxy.”

Nintendo turns Mario Day into a 40th anniversary event

Nintendo is celebrating MAR10 Day this year with events for fans of every age, connecting the 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. with the excitement for the new movie.

Throughout the month, the company will be hosting exciting Mario Kart events, including in-store appearances, contests, and special promotions.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie gets a big Mario Day push

As a huge movie fan, I’ve noticed Nintendo is really pushing the Super Mario Galaxy Movie for Mario Day this year. It’s not just the final trailer they dropped yesterday, but all their MAR10 Day announcements are clearly focused on making the film a big part of the celebration. They’re definitely making a splash!

The film premieres on April 1st and stars Mario and Luigi, with appearances by Yoshi and Princess Rosalina. This aligns with Nintendo’s recent hints about expanding the Mario universe to include more galactic elements.

Nintendo New York and San Francisco host MAR10 Day events

Nintendo’s New York and San Francisco stores are hosting a week of Mario-themed activities.

Fans can stop by to play Mario games, shop Mario merchandise, and take part in special events.

A major event is happening today, March 10th! You can meet and take photos with Mario at Nintendo New York from 5 to 7 p.m., and at Nintendo San Francisco from 4 to 7 p.m.

Starting March 4th, Nintendo held a contest at My Nintendo kiosks where fans could enter to win a family trip to Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood or Orlando.

Mario game sales and Mario Tennis Fever tournament also part of the celebration

From March 8th to 14th, Nintendo is offering discounts on a variety of Mario games. You can find these deals at both official Nintendo stores and other retailers.

The company is hosting a Mario Tennis Fever Tournament on March 14th at both of its stores. Registration begins on March 9th, and everyone who participates will get a free gift!

In addition to in-store activities, Nintendo is running online Mario Kart races, offering classic Mario games through Nintendo Switch Online, and partnering with Lunchables to give away Nintendo Switch 2 consoles as prizes.

This year, Nintendo is celebrating MAR10 Day with more than just a single-day sale. They’ve created a larger marketing event to commemorate Mario’s 40th anniversary and promote the new Super Mario movie.
