Mariah Carey’s Sister ‘Had A Tough Life’ And Hadn’t Met The Singer In Decades

As an ardent fan of Mariah Carey, I find myself deeply moved by the heartbreaking news that her sister Alison and mother Patricia have passed away within days of each other. The complexity of their lives, marred by tragedy and hardship, is a poignant reminder of the resilience and strength of the human spirit.

Trigger warning: This article contains mentions of death.

On August 24th, Mariah Carey’s sister Alison, who had faced many challenges throughout her life, passed away at her residence in Coxsackie. This sad event occurred on the same day as their mother Patricia’s passing. As reported by her friends, Alison’s life was difficult and her demise, unfortunately, wasn’t unexpected. Despite this, she managed to spend time with her children before she passed away and achieved her desire of leaving this world in her own home.

As a lifestyle expert, I, David Baker, shared with PEOPLE some insights about the late sister of the renowned Fantasy singer. While we had anticipated it, her sudden illness and subsequent passing left us all in shock. In just a month’s time, she was gone. Previously, I had shared that she was under home hospice care, and there were discussions about moving her into a nursing home. However, I was fortunate enough to help her find an apartment in Coxsackie, New York, where she resided for three years until her passing. She finally got her wish – she passed away peacefully in the comfort of her own home.

He also revealed in another tweet that Alison experienced severe post-traumatic stress disorder in the 1980s “after being forced as a child to witness atrocities during late-night devil worshiping,” claiming that her mother subjected her to the abuse.

Alison had four kids: three boys and one girl. In the weeks prior to her untimely passing, her children paid her a visit. As for her well-known sister, they had a complex relationship. Mariah wrote in her autobiography that, given the circumstances, it was safer – both emotionally and physically – for her not to interact with Alison or their brother Morgan at the time.

On August 26th, Mariah shared her sorrow in an exclusive statement to PEOPLE. “I am deeply saddened that I’ve lost my mother over the weekend,” she said. “Unfortunately, it was a heartbreaking coincidence that my sister also passed away on the same day.” The multiple Grammy-winning artist lamented.

She revealed that she felt grateful to have been with her mother in her final moments. “I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time,” she added.
