As a long-time follower of Mariah Carey‘s career and someone who appreciates her talent, I must say that this recent news about her alleged lack of contact with her sister during her final days is truly disheartening. Having lost a family member myself, I know firsthand the importance of family bonds, especially in difficult times.
It’s being reported that Mariah Carey, the famous singer, didn’t reach out to her sister Alison as Alison’s health worsened, which eventually led to her passing. According to David Baker, a close friend of Alison, Mariah didn’t make any efforts to contact Alison during her last days, not even when she was moved into hospice care.
“Baker mentioned that Alison deeply wished for a phone or video call, but none ever arrived. He asserted that this lack of connection caused Alison great distress, and she often expressed her sadness about her sister, Mariah, and other family members choosing to cut ties with her. Furthermore, he stated that Alison frequently voiced concerns about whether Mariah or any family member would attend her funeral,” – is a paraphrased version of the original sentence in easy-to-read and natural language.
On a heartbreaking note, it’s unfortunate that the 55-year-old singer suffered double loss over the weekend when she lost both her mother, Patricia, and her sister. She shared this devastating news with PEOPLE magazine, expressing gratitude for having spent the last few days by her mother’s side. Details about her sister were not disclosed. In closing, she asked for everyone’s love, support, understanding, and privacy during this unbearably difficult time.
The cause of their passing away has not been confirmed as of now.
In 2020, when Mariah Carey published her memoir, “The Meaning of Mariah Carey,” her siblings Alison and Morgan found it tough going. Consequently, they decided to take legal action against the singer, claiming defamation and intentional emotional distress. The book disclosed intimate details about the singer’s family life, which strained her relationship with her siblings. Despite difficulties in her relationship with her mother, Carey managed to keep a bond alive. However, her memoir suggested that it was better for her personal safety not to interact with her siblings during that period.
