In the critically-acclaimed film “The Substance,” Margaret Qualley played a role alongside Demi Moore. She candidly discussed her experience with wearing prosthetics during production, revealing that it took a toll on her skin.
In an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast with host Josh Horowitz, the actress who portrayed Sue in the movie revealed that due to skin damage, some close-up shots required her facial area to be edited or altered. (This version maintains the original’s clarity and flow while slightly rephrasing certain parts for easier reading.)
The 30-year-old actress explained to the host, “At the start of the movie, they took photos up my skirt from a low angle with palm trees in the background and long lenses. This was because my face had been badly damaged during filming that they could no longer take close-ups of me.
In a recent chat, the actress who starred in “The Nice Guys” revealed that her acne persisted long after the filming of “The Substance” ended and as she began working on her next production, “Kinds Of Kindness.” During the conversation, she playfully asked the host if he was familiar with the character from the movie who had such severe acne.
30-year-old actress, known for her roles as Martha, Vivian, Ruth, and Rebecca in the project, admitted that the acne seen on her character was actually a result of the prosthetics she wore. She reminisced about finding it “flawless” and feeling proud to embody all those characters, one of whom required her prosthetic acne. Qualley disclosed that it likely took her a year to fully recover physically from the use of these prosthetics.
