As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for individuality and a deep respect for those who boldly embrace their truth, I wholeheartedly applaud Maren Morris for her courageous and unapologetic stance. Her journey, marked by resilience, self-discovery, and advocacy, serves as an inspiring beacon for the LGBTQ+ community and beyond.
Maren Morris openly embraces her identity within the LGBTQ+ community and isn’t shy about showcasing it! Just under two months after publicly declaring herself as bisexual, she posted a selfie wearing a black “Born Queer” shirt to her Instagram Story on July 30th.
1. The t-shirt showcased words within a circular design combining red and gold, resembling a beer logo with added star and eagle illustrations. During her free time, the artist made a TikTok video where her upcoming single Push Me Over from the EP Intermission was audible in the background.
The clip provided a closer look at Morris’ full outfit, which included light-wash jeans and blue sneakers. In the video, she playfully pokes fun at herself while attempting to dance to her new tune.
Maren Morris came out as bisexual in Pride Month
During the widely recognized Pride Month in June, Morris announced her bisexuality on Instagram. From a performance in Phoenix, Arizona, she posted, saying, “Wishing everyone a Happy Pride! Proud to identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community.”
The news broke several months following the singer’s official divorce from country singer Ryan Hurd, who is now her ex-husband. They have a 4-year-old son, named Hayes, together.
Morris has consistently supported the rights of the LGBTQ+ community. In a June 2023 interview with Billboard, she expressed concern over the approximately 450 anti-LGBTQ+ proposals being debated within the U.S. government at different levels. She highlighted the potential consequences of these bills on southern states, stating, “I’m from Texas, I reside in Tennessee, and I cherish the community I am part of there. However, these bills seem to encourage us to distrust each other.”

More on Maren Morris
Growing up in the vibrant city of Arlington, Texas, I, Morris, have always nurtured a deep-rooted passion for music, particularly country tunes that resonate with my soul. Today, it’s an honor to be recognized as a celebrated figure in the country music scene. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of releasing six studio albums, four extended plays (EPs), 21 singles, eight charting songs, and 13 music videos – all part of my journey in sharing my love for music with the world.
In March 24, 2018, Morris remarried her former spouse in Nashville, Tennessee, following a period of dating. After their divorce settlement in 2024, she publicly identified as bisexual and shared her thoughts with PEOPLE about country stars supporting the LGBTQ+ community. “I’ve been told to ‘Shut up and sing’ more times than I can remember—that’s often a passive-aggressive threat,” said the musician.
