Marcello Hernández Responds to Dax Shepard’s Comments About Dating Sabrina Carpenter

Marcello Hernández recently addressed rumors about his dating life. While on the Armchair Expert podcast, host Dax Shepard jokingly pressed him about a possible relationship with singer Sabrina Carpenter. Shepard, admitting he’s been listening to Carpenter’s music a lot lately, said he’d do anything to marry her if he were Hernández.

The 28-year-old comedian immediately clarified that he’s already taken. “I’m in a relationship,” he explained, adding that he’s dating a Dominican woman who is an architect. He described her as amazing and shared that she went to Yale.

Sources say actor Hernández is dating Ana Amelia Batlle Cabral, and the two have been publicly seen together at several events over the past few months. They attended an afterparty for The Phoenician Scheme in May, and made their relationship official at the premiere of Happy Gilmore 2 last July. Hernández seems happily committed and has spoken highly of his frequent co-star.

I’ve been so impressed with Sabrina Carpenter. She’s got amazing comedic timing and a fantastic work ethic – she’s been a real asset to the sketches we’ve done together at Studio 8H. Honestly, she’s just game for anything, always willing to brainstorm something funny, and she’s a genuinely talented actress. And Taylor? She’s awesome! So funny and cool, and we just click creatively. It’s been a blast working with both of them.

The pair became well-known for their popular “Domingo” sketches, which are now a regular part of Hernández’s work on the late-night show. Carpenter even included the sketch in her Short n’ Sweet tour, jokingly pretending to arrest the comedian during a Los Angeles show in late 2024. Despite their close working relationship, Hernández clarified that reports of them getting married were just a fun marketing campaign.

Earlier this month, comedian Marcello Hernández got fans excited when he shared a video that appeared to show him getting married. The black-and-white clip featured him in a tuxedo and a touching moment with his mother, leading many to think he was about to get married. He quickly clarified, however, that the video was actually a promotional teaser for his first stand-up special, Marcello Hernández: American Boy, which premiered on Netflix on January 7th.

By early 2026, Marcello Hernández is enjoying a successful career, still a key performer on Saturday Night Live. He’s also breaking into movies, with a significant role in the upcoming Netflix film 72 Hours alongside Kevin Hart. This will be his first live-action movie, but he’s also contributing his voice to The Angry Birds Movie 3.
