Manny Jacinto Reveals His Life Goal, and It May Break the Hearts of ‘The Acolyte’ Fans

As a seasoned gamer and Star Wars enthusiast with over two decades of immersion in the galaxy far, far away, I must express my deep disappointment at the cancellation of “Star Wars: The Acolyte.” While I understand the financial constraints and market demands that drive such decisions, the potential for Qimir’s character development was truly captivating.

The Star Wars spin-off series titled “Star Wars: The Acolyte” has been terminated by Disney following the airing of only 8 episodes. This move was anticipated by many due to the show’s significant production expenses and perceived shortcomings in quality. Critics pointed out numerous logical discrepancies, weak scripting, below-par performances, and problematic pacing as major issues.

Primarily, Disney faced challenges due to the low number of viewers tuning into the show, leading to its termination. Although there were some unfavorable responses online, experts in the industry agree that the main cause for its cancellation was the show’s failure to draw a large enough audience.

Among the many captivating aspects of the series, the secondary antagonist, Qimir, stood out. At first, Qimir appeared as Mae’s mysterious and somewhat clumsy acquaintance. However, it wasn’t long before we discovered that he was secretly mentoring her in the ways of the Sith. Despite this early revelation, Qimir’s character remained intriguing.

As a powerful Sith Lord, Qimir showcased his merciless nature by almost entirely eradicating the Jedi on Khofar who stood in his way towards liberation. He brandished an extraordinary, previously unseen weapon and donned a helmet crafted from Cortosis – a tribute to the broader Sith lore.

Qimir’s presence greatly fueled fans’ anticipation for another season, as the concluding episode subtly suggested that he was being tutored by the legendary Sith Master, Darth Plagueis – who is famously recognized for having trained Darth Sidious.

Lately, Manny Jacinto, known for his role as Qimir, shared his ambitions at the Dragon Con panel. When asked about his life’s aim, Jacinto disclosed that it is to witness a second season of The Acolyte. His response elicited enthusiastic applause and cheers.

As a passionate fan, I’ve been actively participating in a campaign on Change.org aiming to revive the captivating series, “The Acolyte.” With over 66,000 signatures already gathered, our collective voice has certainly resonated. However, given the substantial production costs associated with “The Acolyte,” it seems challenging to alter the decision made about its renewal.

On the contrary, a movement to take The Acolyte out of the official canon as a de-canonized work, and to eliminate Qimir’s Sith Lord character, is gathering strength, having garnered over 18,000 signatures.
