Manga PLUS Adds English Version of ‘Captain Tsubasa’ Manga

Speaking about football manga or sports manga as a whole, Captain Tsubasa stands out among the most renowned and widely loved series ever produced, a status partially attributed to the success of its earlier anime adaptation.

Originally penned by Yōichi Takahashi, this classic manga made its debut in 1981 and has undergone multiple adaptations, follow-ups, and offshoots since then. The latest installment of the manga came to a close in 2024.

As a die-hard fan of anime and manga, I’ve eagerly awaited the day when my favorite series would grace Shueisha’s highly regarded Manga PLUS platform. And guess what? The wait is finally over!

Manga Plus stands out as one of the most extensive manga platforms in the Western region. Its collection boasts an impressive size, housing both contemporary and classic manga series. The diversity of available titles caters to a wide range of manga enthusiasts’ tastes.

Initially, you might imagine the title of this service would be as prominent as “Captain Tsubasa”. However, up until now, it’s been hard to find. Fortunately, Shueisha has announced that the manga is now accessible in English on their platform.

Additionally, fans of the series get an extra perk – they can read the manga for free up until April 13, Japanese Standard Time (which is equivalent to April 12 at 11:00 a.m. EDT). After this date, it will no longer be available for free; however, Deluxe subscribers will still have access to it.

For the very first time, the English edition is being released independently. We truly hope that you’ll find it enjoyable!
