Is it hard to believe that the Vinland Saga manga first came out twenty years ago? Indeed, it was published on April 13, 2005, and now spans over 28 volumes. Remarkably, this popular series continues to be released.
After a wait of fourteen years, the manga series at last got an anime version, which debuted in 2019. We’re hopeful that it’s taking a break now, and we eagerly await news about another season being officially announced.
Given the milestone of the manga turning 20 years old, Makoto Yukimura penned a touching note to his fans, expressing gratitude for their unwavering support and affection. However, he also disclosed something we had anticipated but are still saddened by.
On the 13th of April, marking the 20th anniversary of the manga, Yukimura conveyed a touching and concise message to the fans via their social platforms.
そうだ!20周年です。みんなありがとう!みんなのおかげです。

In the initial communication, Yukimura expressed gratitude towards the fans for standing by him throughout the past two decades. He further mentioned that their support played an integral role in his journey. Later, he penned down a more detailed note.
20 years! I never thought it would take this long to create this comic. I had only thought it would take 10 years. But my schedule expanded twice what I had planned, and I pressed on without giving up. Honestly, I’ve been relying on all of you readers for support. Thank you very much.
However, the final chapter is approaching now.

Since this is a significantly longer one, here is the translation:
Over two decades have flown by since I first embarked on this manga journey, and it’s hard to believe that I never thought it would last this long. Initially, I assumed it would only run for a decade. However, the pace I envisioned has been sustained twice as long. It’s all thanks to the loyal readership of Vinland Saga that the series hasn’t been discontinued. I can’t thank you enough! But now, the end is drawing near.
Not only was it heartwarming to see Yukimura express gratitude to his fans, but what truly captivated readers’ attention was the closing statement where he confirms that the end of Vinland Saga is approaching. Although we had suspected as much, it’s still bittersweet to learn about its impending conclusion.
On the bright side, we don’t need to wait for long as Vinland Saga isn’t in a hurry with its release schedule. This means we can follow it comfortably on our calendars, but unfortunately, there may not be many episodes or chapters left.
