Maika Monroe, known for her roles in horror films like Longlegs and It Follows, is featured in a new trailer for the upcoming video game, Resident Evil: Requiem. She plays a mother struggling to survive the famous zombie outbreak in 1990s Raccoon City, offering fans a new perspective on the Resident Evil world.

Monroe described the film set to Entertainment Weekly as “just chaos,” recalling a scene filled with “cops, dogs, and smoke machines.” She explained the energy was particularly intense because of all the extras dressed as zombies.

Resident Evil: Requiem is the ninth major installment in the popular Resident Evil series, created by Capcom. Players take on the roles of both FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft and veteran agent Leon S. Kennedy as they investigate the events unfolding in Raccoon City. Gameplay alternates between the two characters: Grace’s sections emphasize scary, stealth-based survival, while Leon’s focus on action and combat.

I was so excited when Capcom first teased this game back in July 2024, and then finally showed it off at Summer Game Fest 2025! It’s amazing they’re celebrating 30 years of Resident Evil with a brand new story that continues what started in Raccoon City with the Umbrella Corporation – it’s even tying things back to what happened in Resident Evil 6, which is awesome! The best part? Resident Evil: Requiem is coming out on February 27th for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. I can’t wait!

Monroe shared a quick update about the upcoming sequel to her popular horror movie, It Follows, mentioning she’d recently received some encouraging news and that plans are potentially moving forward.

To build excitement, mysterious posters with the phrase “Evil Has Always Had a Name” are popping up in New York City’s Times Square and Hollywood. Scanning the QR code on these posters takes you directly to the new trailer for the live-action film.

Actress Kaya Scodelario, who isn’t playing a character from previous Resident Evil games, explained that her part feels like a self-contained short film, offering a new look at what happened in Raccoon City.
