As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a mix of frustration and resignation when it comes to EA Sports and their Madden series. Time and time again, they manage to create something that initially sparks excitement, only to have it crumble like a house of cards due to avoidable technical issues. The latest glitch with the top 100 rank uniforms is just another example in a long line of such mishaps.
Despite EA Sports occasionally pulling off impressive feats, they seem to have a knack for turning them into major flops. One such instance is in Madden 25 Ultimate Team where top 100 ranked players are rewarded with unique uniforms – a fantastic concept indeed. However, the issue lies in that once these uniforms are applied, the game experiences significant lag and eventual crashes, which some players exploit by intentionally applying them to cause crashes for easy victories.
Unfortunately, it’s been over two months since this issue started. However, not all players have experienced the problem because only a select group of 100 can use this uniform. Fortunately, most of the Top 100 are skilled enough that they don’t feel the need to exploit the game like that for an unfair advantage.
Nonetheless, it’s unfortunate that such a potent bug has persisted in the game, causing disruptions to online play for so long. It appears that the NFL is set to renew its exclusive contract with EA Sports. The partnership between EA and the NFL has been highly profitable for this franchise. On the other hand, 2K Sports hasn’t instilled much trust with their recent releases, like the card game NFL Playmakers.
When EA Sports secured the exclusive license, it wasn’t only the demise of the cherished NFL 2K series; it also halted any NFL-related project development at other gaming studios. Developing games isn’t an instant process, it requires years of dedication and hard work.
Attempting to create a professional football game using the NFL license hasn’t been successful thus far, as no one seems eager to undertake such a project without assurance of its success. With decades of attempts behind us, it seems that we may be stuck in this situation for some time to come.
