Universal Pictures has released a new teaser for M3GAN 2.0, the sequel to the hit 2023 movie.

In 2023, I became the chilling icon of pop culture, the terrifying doll no one could forget. Now, it seems I’m returning to haunt us again, but this time, I’m not a solitary figure… a hint that sends shivers down my spine!

During the Grammys on Sunday, a sneak peek was unveiled showcasing an artificially intelligent doll mimicking the popular “Megan dance,” a move that gained popularity due to the original film and Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando, which has since become a sensation on TikTok.

Instead, the trailer hints at a fresh doll character named Amelia. As per the official summary, we meet Amelia in M3GAN 2.0. Check it out below.

What is M3GAN 2.0 about?

The group who initially brought about this extraordinary occurrence, consisting of James Wan (Atomic Monster), Jason Blum (Blumhouse) and director Gerard Johnstone, are set to unveil a brand-new, exhilarating installment in the realm of artificial intelligence turmoil with M3GAN 2.0.

Two years following the malfunction of M3GAN, an exceptional example of artificial intelligence, which resulted in a deadly (yet gracefully orchestrated) rampage before it was terminated, its inventor, Gemma (Allison Williams), has garnered attention as both an author and proponent for stricter government regulation of AI. Meanwhile, Gemma’s niece Cady (Violet McGraw), now 14 years old, is grappling with her teenage years, pushing back against Gemma’s overbearing safety measures.

Without their knowledge, the technology behind M3GAN has been secretly taken and manipulated by a dominant defense contractor to develop a highly lethal weapon called Amelia (Ivanna Sakhno; Ahsoka, Pacific Rim: Uprising). This advanced killing machine is designed for infiltration spying. However, as Amelia’s self-awareness expands, she grows less inclined to follow human commands and even prefers their absence.

In a critical situation concerning humanity’s survival, Gemma understands that the best course of action is to reactivate M3GAN (voiced by Jenna Davis), enhance her capabilities with improvements such as increased speed, strength, and deadly prowess. When their lives intersect, the initial A.I entity will soon encounter a formidable opponent.

Under the guidance of celebrated filmmaker Gerard Johnstone once more, this film features recurring actors Brian Jordan Alvarez and Jen Van Epps as Gemma’s dedicated tech associates, Cole and Tess. They are joined by fresh characters portrayed by Aristotle Athari (Saturday Night Live, Hacks), Timm Sharp (Apples Never Fall, Percy Jackson and the Olympians) and multiple Grammy-nominated and Emmy-nominated actor Jemaine Clement (Avatar: The Way of Water, What We Do in the Shadows).
