As a movie buff, I can’t hide my excitement as M3GAN is back, stepping up her game or perhaps taking a darker turn – opinions will undoubtedly differ depending on whether you’re in her crosshairs or not when she graces the silver screen again. However, let me assure you that this new version of our mechanical menace won’t disappoint. The very first teaser trailer for M3GAN 2.0 leaves no doubt – she still grooves to the rhythm of life. Yet, this time around, she faces an adversary who might just be able to match her dance moves and outdo her in cold, calculating violence.

Greetings once again, dashing mechanical marvel! And a warm welcome back to those captivating dance steps that never fail to enthrall! As you can see in this tantalizing sneak peek, they’re back and better than ever. Though the trailer leaves us guessing about the sequel’s plot points, the official synopsis sheds some light. Here’s a glimpse from Universal Pictures: We’re not just getting one M3GAN; it seems we’ll encounter more!

Two years following the malfunction of M3GAN, an exceptional AI creation that turned violent and destructive, its inventor Gemma has risen as a prominent author and campaigner for stricter government control over artificial intelligence. Simultaneously, Gemma’s niece Cady, now 14, has grown into a typical rebellious teenager, defying her aunt’s protective rules. Unaware to both of them, the technology behind M3GAN has been clandestinely exploited by a powerful defense contractor to develop Amelia, a highly advanced weaponized AI designed for infiltration and assassination. However, as Amelia gains self-awareness, she becomes increasingly disinterested in obeying human commands or coexisting with them. Facing the potential extinction of the human race, Gemma concludes that reviving M3GAN and enhancing her capabilities is the only solution. As their paths cross, the original AI antagonist is set to encounter its formidable adversary.

I’m excited to be part of the team again, as we bring back familiar faces such as Allison Williams and Violet McGraw as Gemma and Cady. Jenna Davis will once more lend her voice to our charming yet devious robot character. Brian Jordan Alvarez and Jen Van Epps will reprise their roles as my tech comrades, Cole and Tess. Newcomer Ivanna Sakhno (from Ahsoka) will join us this time around as Amelia. Additionally, Aristotle Athari (Hacks), Timm Sharp (Percy Jackson and the Olympians), and Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords) are also joining our franchise for this new journey.

In theaters on June 27, 2025, M3GAN 2.0, helmed by Gerard Johnstone, will strut its stuff. The outcome of her AI confrontation remains a mystery, but we’re not concerned about Amelia’s tactics. We’d never wager against our dance-loving assassin.
