Luffy’s Most Powerful Attacks: The Ultimate Ranking You Can’t Miss!

In this piece, we’re spotlighting Monkey D. Luffy, the main character from Eiichiro Oda’s renowned manga/anime, One Piece. Currently, Luffy is one of the most powerful figures in the storyline, with a promising future as its strongest pirate. This article aims to celebrate Luffy’s growth by showcasing his top 10 most potent attacks within the One Piece universe, arranged according to their strength.

10. Gomu Gomu no Jet Stamp

Gear: Second

Luffy employs his standard Rubber Man-Rubber Man Stamp move, but this time he’s boosted by Gear 2, increasing both his speed and power. Instead of using a fist, he strikes the opponent with the bottom of his foot. In the initial instance, he deploys it against Blueno.

9. Gomu Gomu no Red Hawk

Gear: Second

In a more refined phrasing: An upgraded form of Gomu Gomu no Jet Bullet is what Luffy employs after activating Gear 2. By using Busoshoku Haki on his arm, he stiffens it before extending it backward, similar to when he unleashes Gomu Gomu no Bullet. However, this time the arm becomes fiery hot and almost sets alight. Upon impact, the attack produces a blast of fire that appears to penetrate the opponent, inflicting severe damage on their organs and body. In the manga’s chronology, Luffy first deploys it against Byrnndi World in episode 3D2Y to secure victory, although in the anime, this move is initially displayed against Hody Jones.

9. Gomu Gomu no Red Roc

Gear: Third

Luffy transforms into Gear Three, unleashes a more potent version of his Red Hawk move enhanced with refined Armament Haki. This formidable attack brings down and wounds Kaido. His move is named after the mighty Ruc or Roc, a legendary bird from Persian folklore.

7. Gomu Gomu no Jet Culverin

Gear: Fourth

An exceptionally swift adaptation of Luffy’s Gomu Gomu no Culverin from his Boundman form: Luffy condenses his fist before releasing it, manipulating the course of the strike with Python according to his adversary’s reactions. The greater he extends his arm, the faster it accelerates, and the impact is strong enough to send Charlotte Katakuri crashing into a wall. This maneuver was initially employed against Katakuri.

6. Gomu Gomu no King Kong Gun

Gear: Fourth

During the activation of Gear Four, Luffy swells his arm muscles by filling them with air until they resemble the size of his Gear Third form. Then, he performs a Kong Gun from his Gomu Gomu no technique, but this time with greater power. He initially employed it to vanquish Doflamingo, shattering his Kumo no Sugaki and his strongest ability, God Thread.

While in Wano Country, Luffy enhanced his Busoshoku Haki by mastering an advanced variant and modifying the technique’s execution. Instead of inflating his arm, he now expels the Haki from his fist. This enables Luffy to deliver impactful blows without actually touching anything, as a solitary strike was powerful enough to shatter a massive chunk of steel.

5. Gomu Gomu no Leo Bazooka

Gear: Fourth

Among Luffy’s strongest moves, there’s one where he unleashes devastating power by extending his hands after drawing them into his arms – much like the Gomu Gomu no Bazooka. The stance Luffy assumes during this technique bears a striking resemblance to Son Goku’s iconic Kamehameha pose from the Dragon Ball series. This move made its debut when Luffy knocked out Doflamingo for a brief moment, initially used against him.

4. Gomu Gomu no Cannonball (Tankman)

Gear: Fourth

In the battle against Charlotte Cracker, Luffy, having eaten an enormous amount of cookies and consequently bulking up significantly, showcases a new version of Gear 4 – the Tankman form, specifically the “full stomach” variant. This form makes him look like an oversized sumo wrestler, with his arms and legs sporting slightly enlarged muscles, while his Haki-enhanced midriff expands to a massive, round, yet muscular state.

In a similar vein to Luffy’s appearance when merging Gear Second and Gear Third prior to the time skip, this shape reminds one of him. The Tankman imbues Luffy’s body with extraordinary durability due to Haki, making it unlike his Boundman form where Cracker, despite being covered in haki, came very close to slicing him with a sword. In contrast, during this form, Cracker found he was unable to penetrate Luffy’s abdomen with the same sword.

Moreover, this specific transformation amplifies the force and impact of Boundman’s rubber-based offensive, utilizing Luffy’s gigantic belly as a catapult. This enables him to vanquish Cracker by firing his exceptionally durable cookie troopers with the Gomu Gomu no Cannonball. Since Gear 4 accelerates Luffy’s metabolism, he can quickly transition out of his tankman form following its utilization. This was evident when Luffy managed to burn off a substantial quantity of cookies he had consumed during his fight against Cracker soon after defeating him.

3. Gomu Gomu no Black Mamba

Gear: Fourth

Luffy bends his back and squeezes his arms together before delivering a swift series of punches that create an illusion of multiple strikes. Similar to Gomu Gomu no Jet Culverin, this method alters the trajectory of attacks, but its rapid motion makes evasion particularly challenging. This tactic was initially employed against Charlotte Katakuri, though he skillfully dodged it.

2. Gomu Gomu no Gigant

Gear: Fifth

In a similar fashion as his previous Gear 3 transformation, but encompassing his entire body, Luffy undergoes a colossal change. This new form is an evolved variant of his earlier technique, triggered upon activating Gear 5 and representing the genuine manifestation of his Gomu Gomu no Mi. This transformation enabled him to battle effectively against the beastly Kaidou.

1. Gomu Gomu no Bajrang Gun

Gear: Fifth

In a powerful display, Luffy expands his fist nearly to the scale of Onigashima itself, charges it with both Busoshoku Haki and Haoshoku Haki, and unleashes a colossal punch. This move, which he initially used against Kaido, resulted in an intense collision when Kaido retaliated with Shoryu: Kaen Hakke. Notably, “Bajrang” is another name for the revered Hindu monkey god, Hanuman.
