Many people first heard of Los Lobos through the 1987 film La Bamba, where they performed the songs of Ritchie Valens, the young rock and roll star who died at just 17. But Los Lobos is a band with a much richer history than just that one soundtrack.
I just love Los Lobos! They pull from so many different kinds of music – rock, blues, even Tex-Mex and folk – but it never feels like they’re just copying anyone. They somehow blend it all together and create a sound that’s totally their own, and they’ve been doing it amazingly well for years.
The band released their latest album, Native Sons, in 2021, and it’s a must-have for any music fan. The same holds true for several of their earlier works, including How Will the Wolf Survive? from 1984 and By the Light of the Moon from 1987.
