Lord Of The Rings War Of The Rohirrim Anime Trailer Breakdown: From A To B, Everything You Missed

As a lifelong devotee of Middle Earth and its enchanting lore, I must say that the upcoming anime film “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim” has sent my heart racing with anticipation! Growing up with Tolkien’s masterpiece, I’ve traversed the Shire, scaled Mount Doom, and battled countless Orcs in my mind’s eye.

“The Lord of the Rings: The Rohirrim’s War – An Upcoming Anime Preceding Peter Jackson’s Trilogy”

In this animated movie, we delve into the tale of King Helm Hammerhand, a revered ruler from Rohan. It chronicles his family’s struggles and their kingdom’s battle against the Dunlendings’ invading army. Notably, the famous Battle of Helm’s Deep, deeply rooted in Lord of the Rings folklore, derives its name from Helm. The cinematic quality of the trailer for this upcoming film is on par with that of Peter Jackson’s films. Here’s a sneak peek at what we can anticipate in The Lord of the Rings: The Rohirrim’s War.

House of Hammerhand

In the trailer, it’s clear why King Helm earned the nickname “Hammerhand.” He battles Freca in hand-to-hand combat and ends his life, leading to Dunlendings, under Wulf, son of Freca, launching an invasion of Rohan in 2758. This aggression was fueled by their desire for the throne, which King Helm had anticipated as they initially proposed a truce with him.

Eorl the Young established the Kingdom of Rohan and its initial ruling dynasty was called the House of Eorl. Over a span of 249 years, this royal line persisted until the demise of the ninth king, Helm Hammerhand. The upcoming trailer focuses on King Helm’s daughter, Hera, who is not featured in the original series. She is defiant and intends to protect her kingdom from impending conflict.

Beasts of Middle Earth

Though this war may be among men, we have seen how mythical creatures are used by armies during combat. In one scene we can see Hèra pet a giant Eagle, the likes of which we have seen in both the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies. We also see several scenes with Mûmakil, the large creatures that resembled elephants but were far bigger with longer tusks.

In the grand scheme of the film’s creatures, I’ve noticed that the Mûmakil aren’t the most fearsome. Yet, in a single frame, there emerges an immense tentacled monster, seemingly dragging a Mûmakil beneath the waves. This colossal water creature could very well be the Water Watcher from The Fellowship of the Ring. Given its past role of guarding the waters surrounding Helm’s Deep, this theory aligns quite nicely.

Recurring characters?

In the heart-pounding new series, I’m transported to an era nearly 200 years prior to the epic first film, which means my beloved characters may not make an appearance. Yet, as the thrilling trailer nears its end, a treasure hunter is seen amassing rings in devotion to Mordor. Could we catch a glimpse of Sauron? It’s tantalizingly possible! But let’s not forget, the One Ring is currently clutched by Gollum, hidden deep within the enigmatic Misty Mountains. The suspense is killing me!

In the sequence of events from the books, Gandalf the Grey is traveling across Middle-Earth, so there’s a chance he could show up. Additionally, Saruman might also appear, as according to the lore, he seizes control of Isengard and switches allegiances. However, these are just possibilities and we must await confirmation from the Studios.

“A Lord of the Rings anime was unexpected”

Many fans who are accustomed to the books and movies find it exciting that J.R.R. Tolkien’s work, initially adapted into animation, is now completing its cycle with The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim. Fans have been praising the visuals in the trailer, but some have raised concerns about the storyline focusing on Hera, fearing it may overshadow her father’s legacy.

On December 13, 2024, “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim” by Warner Bros. Pictures will hit theaters in the U.S. This upcoming series will be helmed by director Kenji Kamiyama, known for his work on “Ultraman” and “Ghost in the Shell.” Brian Cox (Helm Hammerhand), Gaia Wise (Hèra), Luke Pasqualino (Wulf), Miranda Otto (Éowyn), and Shaun Dooley (Freca) are among the principal actors.

Get ready, fellow enthusiasts of epic tales and timeless worlds! Mark your calendars for August 29, 2024, as we eagerly await the second season premiere of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power on Prime Video. This year promises an abundance of thrilling action straight from the heart of Middle Earth.
