As a dedicated fan who’s been following George Lopez and his family for years, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement that Season 2 of “Lopez vs Lopez” is finally coming to Netflix on September 18, 2024! I remember the days when I used to stay up late just to catch the latest episode on NBC. Now, I don’t have to worry about missing out because it’s all there on Netflix.
“Season 2 of ‘Lopez vs Lopez’ is set to premiere on Netflix on September 18, 2024, offering all its episodes to viewers in the United States. The streaming giant, Netflix, owns the rights for two years, with a potential extension. Excitingly, it has been confirmed that there will be a third season, airing on NBC on October 18, 2024, and also available for streaming on Peacock. Previously, Season 1, which ranked sixth in US TV ratings, joined Netflix’s library in November 2023.”
In 2023, the streaming rights for the comedy sitcom “Lopez vs Lopez,” which starred George Lopez and his daughter Mayan, were acquired by Netflix following its broadcast on NBC. The show initially aired on NBC in November 2022. After its run on NBC, Netflix will have exclusive access to the new season, but it will only be available for streaming within the United States.
Starting in November 2023, all 22 episodes of Season 1 became available on Netflix in the United States, where it climbed to sixth place on the national TV rankings. Currently, there are no plans for global distribution, meaning viewers outside the U.S. won’t be able to watch it. This show follows George and Mayan as they navigate through their relationship ups and downs after a period of estrangement. The series premiered in November 2022 and is based on a real-life story.
Following its debut on Netflix, the series “Lopez vs Lopez” remained popular for three consecutive days in the US TV charts, placing it as the sixth most-watched show on November 7, 2023. However, it was disclosed that there would be no plans to distribute the show in other regions, and as a result, it wouldn’t air anywhere else.
In May 2023, NBC confirmed that our sitcom would continue for a complete second season. Originally planned for 13 episodes, it was later reduced to 10. These episodes were broadcast from April 2nd to April 30th, 2024, attracting an average of 2.15 million viewers. This viewership figure dropped slightly compared to the first season’s 2.40 million. The dual-Hollywood strike, which impacted a significant number of shows including Netflix’s lineup, caused delays in our series’ filming during 2023. This strike also disrupted the production schedules for numerous TV shows and films on Netflix.
Beginning on September 18, 2024, Netflix will air all ten episodes of the second season of Lopez vs Lopez. For a minimum of two years, Netflix holds the streaming rights and they may extend this period if they decide to produce a third season. Interestingly, Lopez vs. Lopez has been renewed for a third season which will air on NBC starting from October 18, 2024. Following its Netflix run, the series will be fully accessible on Peacock.
