On the final day of their lives, Klein reminisced, “That evening, we enjoyed a pleasant happy hour, preparing for the New Year’s celebration. Afterward, we had a short rest to freshen up before dressing up nicely.

He then went on to state that the cause of death of Jocelyn Wildenstein was phlebitis. 

As an ardent enthusiast, let me clarify for those uninitiated: Phlebitis, as Healthline explains, is a vein inflammation. This condition can stem from damage to the vein wall or a clot that obstructs a vein, causing it. Remarkably, I recall Klein describing that due to Wildenstein’s health predicament, her legs were extraordinarily swollen, and the blood circulation was disrupted, leading to a lack of oxygen in her brain.

As a retired police officer with over three decades of service, I’ve seen my fair share of unusual situations, but waking up to find my partner freezing cold was definitely not something I had anticipated during our afternoon nap. It brought back memories of long, frigid nights spent on stakeouts in the dead of winter, huddled together for warmth and waiting for a sign of trouble.

I quickly realized that Jocelyn, being an ardent animal lover, might have forgotten to turn up the heat while we were asleep.
