Lizzo has spoken out regarding the lawsuit filed by three former dancers. She recently won a significant legal point when claims that she fat-shamed them were dismissed. This came after it was discovered that a private conversation had been secretly recorded.
Lizzo recently responded to accusations that dancers were fired for gaining weight. She stated the firings were actually due to a former dancer, Arianna Davis, secretly recording her and sharing the recording with another ex-dancer, Crystal Williams, as detailed in court filings.
Lizzo has released a new video addressing claims made by former employees. After the employees dropped their lawsuit, Lizzo clarified that they were not fired for weight gain, but because they secretly recorded her and shared the recording with people outside the company.

Lizzo’s lawyers, Marty Singer and Melissa Y. Glass, stated that the three dancers who sued her—Davis, Noelle Rodriguez, and Williams—withdrew their claims of being body-shamed after 18 people provided sworn statements that didn’t support those claims. The judge also agreed that firing Davis was justified because she had secretly recorded conversations.
The lawsuit started in 2023 when the dancers said Lizzo made them feel uncomfortable while on tour in Amsterdam and Paris. They claimed she pushed them to engage with performers in a sexually explicit situation at a club in Amsterdam.
Lizzo has repeatedly stated she did nothing wrong, describing the accusations as false and hurtful. In a 2024 conversation with Keke Palmer, she explained that the people making the claims were individuals she had previously helped. She also shared how the lawsuit affected her, saying she felt extremely anxious and alone. Lizzo added that she understands what it’s like to be criticized for her body, having experienced it herself frequently.
Although the claims about fat-shaming have been dropped, the court is still handling accusations of false imprisonment and harassment.
According to the dancers’ lawyer, Ronald Zambrano, they still believe the judge made the right decision when he rejected Lizzo’s attempt to dismiss most of their claims. Lizzo’s legal team remains confident they will win the case on the remaining issues.
