Livvy Dunne, the former LSU gymnast, is stepping into a new role – she’s joined the cast of the upcoming Baywatch reboot! This marks a big change for Dunne, moving from college athletics to a career in acting, and she was recently spotted on set in Malibu filming scenes.
Olivia Dunne, age 23, recently filmed scenes for a television show on the beach while wearing the show’s iconic red uniform. Although she’s done photoshoots for well-known publications like the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, this marks her first significant role in a scripted TV series.
Dunne is starting a new job as a junior lifeguard and has been working hard to improve her skills for on-camera work. She recently explained that she’s always loved performing, but had to put it on hold while she focused on being a student-athlete.

She recently shared her excitement about starting this new venture, explaining, “I’ve been really interested in this for a while. I actually thought about pursuing it while I was at LSU, but when you’re a student-athlete, your sport always comes first.”
With her gymnastics career over, she’s now focusing completely on creative pursuits. She explained that finishing school gives her more time to dedicate to acting and other creative projects.
This social media star is enjoying the shift from athletic training to performing on camera. She explained that seeing the results of dedication – whether it’s in gymnastics, a film, or a TV show – is incredibly satisfying, both individually and as part of a team.

Getting ready for the part hasn’t been limited to learning dialogue – the actors have also been doing intense physical training. This week, Dunne and his co-star Brooks Nader were seen practicing specialized water skills at Venice Beach.
The actors trained with real lifeguards to make their skills look believable on screen. A big part of this was perfecting the iconic slow-motion run into the ocean – a famous shot from the original show that’s still a key part of the series’ visual style.
Someone working on the production team said the two models have great chemistry on set, which has been a standout part of filming so far. The source shared that they’re genuinely enjoying working together and are bringing a lot of positive energy to the Baywatch beach scenes, just like you’d expect from Sports Illustrated.
The show features a mix of well-known actors like Shay Mitchell and Stephen Amell, alongside popular digital personalities such as Noah Beck. Hassie Harrison and Jessica Belkin also star in the series, which aims to deliver classic beachside drama to today’s viewers.
In addition to her growing success as an actress, Dunne remains well-known in the sports world thanks to her relationship with baseball player Paul Skenes. Skenes recently played for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic championship game, but they lost a close match to Venezuela.
Okay, so even though Skenes took the loss in Miami, he’s really focused on getting ready for the MLB season as the Pirates’ starting pitcher. And it’s super sweet – his girlfriend, Dunne, has said she plans to be at pretty much every game to cheer him on all year long. I’m excited to watch them both – him on the mound, and her supporting him from the stands!
She previously said she’s planning to attend as many of his baseball games as possible this season. Between supporting him and her own work commitments, it looks like she has a packed year ahead.
Everyone’s talking about the Baywatch reboot, which is set to be a major television event in the 2026-2027 season. Made by experienced TV pros and boasting a huge budget for exciting stunts, the new series hopes to bring back the popularity of the original Baywatch from the 1990s.
People who love this series are excited to see what the new writers do with the established characters and how they develop the fresh group of rescuers. Now that filming is really underway, everyone is curious to see if this new team can be as good as the original.
