As a fan who has grown up with Lindsay Lohan‘s extraordinary journey, I can’t help but marvel at her unparalleled resilience and sassiness that have been evident since her Disney days. The young prodigy, who practically grew up on the Disney lot, gave us an iconic performance in “The Parent Trap” at just 11 years old. Her quick wit was already on full display when she responded to then-head of Disney Michael Eisner’s joke about her twin with a clever retort that any seasoned actress would envy.
As a youngster growing up on the Disney lot, I found fame as a child actress in late ’90s and early ’00s Disney productions. One of my earliest significant roles was playing identical twins Hal and Ann in the 1998 remake of “The Parent Trap,” a film I starred in when I was just 11 years old. The success of that movie opened doors for me, leading to roles in other Disney hits like “Freaky Friday” and “Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen.
Through Variety, we discovered that during an appearance on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live, grown-up Lindsay Lohan shared an amusing anecdote about her past interaction with Disney’s Michael Eisner at the premiere of The Parent Trap. On the red carpet, Eisner jokingly (or so we presume) asked where her twin was, to which young Lindsay retorted, “You should have paid me double, because I don’t have one.” As she grew older, Lohan’s boldness towards the media became her signature trait. However, this assertiveness was evident even in her younger years.
Lindsay Lohan has returned to the Disney family yet again, this time starring in a follow-up to the movie “Freaky Friday,” titled “Freakier Friday.” She’s reuniting with her on-screen mother from the original film, Jamie Lee Curtis. However, there are whispers about a sequel to “The Parent Trap” as well. When asked about this possibility, Lohan replied, “If director Nancy Meyers were involved, yes. I would never turn down Nancy.” If they do go ahead with a sequel that honors the legacy of the original film, perhaps she’ll request double pay from Disney’s current CEO, Bob Iger, for playing twins. Seems only fair!
