Linda Cardellini Eyes Chilling Role in A24’s ‘Crystal Lake’ – A ‘Friday the 13th’ Prequel!

2022 saw the announcement of a ‘Friday the 13th’ prequel series titled ‘Crystal Lake’. This series is initially being crafted by Bryan Fuller and Victor Miller, with production handled by A24 and plans for it to be broadcast on Peacock.

Starting in January 2023, actress Adrienne King, renowned for her portrayal of Alice Hardy in the 1980 movie, was added to the cast in a clandestine capacity. The writing process commenced towards the end of that month, with Kevin Williamson penning an episode.

Starting in May 2024, Fuller was no longer part of the project as A24 opted for a fresh creative direction. Later, in August 2024, Brad Caleb Kane was appointed as the new showrunner. The premiere date for this show has been set for Halloween 2025.

Currently, there are whispers circulating about an exciting development related to the project, with Jeff Sneider – a well-known industry insider – hinting at some potential news. The latest scoop suggests that Linda Cardellini is being considered for the role of Pamela Voorhees, Jason’s mother, according to recent reports.

The importance of this news lies in the fact that Pamela Voorhees plays a pivotal role in the legend surrounding ‘Friday the 13th’. In the initial movie from 1980, she was portrayed as the primary villain, driven by a desire for vengeance after her son, Jason, drowned due to the carelessness of camp counselors.

The sad history of her character, leading to her eventual mental breakdown, paved the way for Jason’s future transformation into the notorious slasher in the movie series, wearing the iconic mask.

Actress Cardellini, famously seen in ‘No Good Deed,’ ‘Dead to Me,’ ‘Freaks and Geeks,’ and ‘Scooby-Doobies,’ is set to assume a legendary horror character that was originally portrayed by Betsy Palmer in the classic movie.

Should the agreement be finalized, ‘Crystal Lake’ will delve into the narrative of Pamela, as well as the sequence of events preceding the initial ‘Friday the 13th.’
