I just read an interview with Lina Esco about filming her new Netflix movie, The Rip, with Ben Affleck, and it was surprisingly hilarious. Apparently, the intimate scenes weren’t exactly serious business! Esco told People that she and Affleck kept cracking up – she described them as ‘just two dorks, dorking around,’ and said they were giggling the whole time. It’s good to hear they could keep things light and fun, even while filming something so potentially intense.
You know, working with Ben Affleck was honestly a dream. He’s just a genuinely kind and relaxed guy, which makes everything so much easier. It’s funny, because you don’t always find that on set – that comfortable, easygoing vibe. It really was a rare and wonderful experience, and the whole set just felt… easy, which is something I really appreciate.
The actress shared that the set had a very relaxed and friendly vibe. She explained, “Everyone was down-to-earth and there wasn’t any pretension – it was just easy to work with everyone.”
The director, Joe Carnahan, created a comfortable and upbeat environment on set, using music to help the cast stay immersed in the film’s world. As she described it, it felt like everyone was genuinely living the movie, and the atmosphere was warm and supportive.
In the film The Rip, a group of Miami police officers discover a large sum of money, which creates suspicion and tension within the team as word gets out. The cast includes Matt Damon, Teyana Taylor, Kyle Chandler, and Steven Yeun, alongside Ben Affleck and Damon himself, who also produced the movie with Damon’s wife, Luciana.
I’ve been a big fan of Lina Esco ever since she played Christina “Chris” Alonso on S.W.A.T. – she was amazing! It was sad to see her leave the show in 2022, but I’m really excited to see what she does next. I heard she’s been focusing on films where she can really show off her acting skills, and her new movie, The Rip, sounds like a fantastic opportunity for her.
The actress is also a passionate activist, best known for launching the “Free the Nipple” campaign, which aimed to challenge censorship and promote equal rights for women. She directed the 2014 film Free the Nipple and continues to use social media to champion women’s rights.
Those who enjoy Affleck and Damon’s work can also anticipate their upcoming crime thriller, Animals, which Affleck is directing and Damon is starring in. With several projects underway, the longtime collaborators, often called the “Boston brothers,” are poised to be major players in movies releasing in 2026.
