As an ardent supporter of Lil Wayne, I’m compelled to share his response to the recent speculation surrounding his use of pandemic relief funds. Contrary to some assertions, he’s vehemently denying any misuse of the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant for private jets, designer attire, or extravagant soirees. When faced with these allegations, the rap maestro appeared puzzled and responded, “I’m at a loss as to what that implies.
In a conversation with Rolling Stone, Fabian Marasciullo, the manager of the artist, flatly refuted the allegations, saying, “He has no involvement in any of that. His money is earned and managed honestly, without shady dealings.” He further mentioned that Wayne’s financial records are transparently audited and clear.
In 2023, a Business Insider report claimed that the rapper received approximately $9 million through the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant, a federal aid program designed to support small, independent event spaces and arts organizations experiencing financial difficulties due to the pandemic.
As a faithful follower, I’ve learned that, when it comes to tour-related expenses, I, personally, followed suit with Wayne, parting with approximately 327,000 USD for contractors. The remaining sum was splurged on high-end accommodations, stylish apparel, extravagant gatherings, and indulgent getaways.
In addition to discussing the topic at hand, the rapper also touched upon a private message he had sent to journalist Katherine Long following her request for comment. Although he admitted to sending the questionable text, he justified his choice of words in the communication.
He stated, “Any woman who messages me is likely to get a suggestive remark. My phone is primarily personal, so if you’ve even managed to get my number, that means you’ve gone out of your way and made an effort. If you text me and I send something you don’t appreciate, then consider it unsolicited advice.
Right now, Wayne is actively gearing up for the launch of his eagerly awaited album titled Tha Carter VI, scheduled for release on June 6th. This venture signifies his re-entry into the world of hip-hop music. For this album, the rapper has teamed up with Wyclef Jean, MGK, Miley Cyrus, and renowned opera artist Andrea Bocelli.
As an ardent enthusiast, I can’t help but be thrilled about this partnership that brings together musical legends from the heart of New Orleans! Known as The Gumbo, this supergroup comprises of none other than Jon Batiste, PJ Morton, Trombone Shorty, and the inimitable Ledisi. It’s an absolute dream come true to witness such a powerhouse collaboration unfold!
