Liam Payne will appear posthumously in Netflix’s series “Building the Band,” due for release this summer. Tragically, One Direction’s lead singer Liam Payne passed away in 2024.
Netflix’s show “Building the Band” is a recently concluded music competition series. Just weeks before his sad demise in October 2024, the filming for this series was completed. The series will heavily feature him along with Kelly Rowland from Destiny’s Child, Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls, AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys, and others.
Sadly, Payne met an untimely end in a devastating incident involving a fall from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires. Prior to this unfortunate event, he had already completed and recorded his appearances on the show several months earlier. In respect of his contributions, Netflix leaders have chosen to honor him by continuing with the broadcast of the program as planned.
Netflix’s top content executive, Bela Bajaria, shared with The Mirror that “Fans are bound to become captivated by Building the Band, airing this summer, which will be led by AJ McLean. The competitors will receive guidance and evaluation from Nicole Scherzinger, alongside Kelly Rowland and the late Liam Payne.
As a devoted fan, I’d like to share that this intriguing series takes a fresh approach to the timeless quest for undiscovered talent. Similar to the format of “Love Is Blind,” the contestants in this show are initially divided into groups, but an interesting twist is added: they won’t lay eyes on each other at first.
Only when they begin collaborating do visual aspects like appearance, style, and stage presence become relevant factors. The next step is to determine if they possess the necessary chemistry to create a successful music group.
In 2010, Payne gained global fame as part of the boy band One Direction, which was assembled during The X Factor music competition and included members Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, and Liam. This group became one of the most successful boy bands ever before they decided to disband permanently in 2016.
Following Payne’s demise, his fellow musicians paid a heartfelt homage, describing him as a cherished sibling and a talented artist. They conveyed their grief via heartfelt messages, announcing that they would take time to grieve privately while honoring their friend’s legacy.
This summer, I’m excited to share that I’ve been involved in Netflix’s “Building the Band,” a project that marks the last filming experience for Liam Payne. As a dedicated fan, this promises to be an unmissable global event.
