As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for pop culture and the music industry, I am deeply saddened by the untimely passing of Liam Payne. Having closely followed the rise of One Direction and their contemporaries, including 5 Seconds of Summer, I have witnessed firsthand the camaraderie and mutual respect that existed between these bands.
The world is grieving the untimely passing of Liam Payne, who was a beloved member of the legendary boyband One Direction. The band Five Seconds of Summer expressed sorrow over his death as they shared a close friendship with him. Notably, their bands had previously toured together twice before achieving worldwide success.
5SOS members shared their sorrow on Instagram two days following Payne’s passing. They viewed his death as a terrible tragedy, expressing that they had lost an exceptional individual who had faith in them. Specifically, Michael Clifford, Luke Hemmings, Ashton Irwin, and Calum Hood expressed gratitude for Payne’s unwavering support throughout their careers. Moreover, they vowed that the kindness he exhibited and the positive impact he made on the world would never be forgotten.
Through their Instagram story, they expressed, “You were consistently kind-hearted towards us. It was a privilege to embark on our adventure with you, and your impact on our lives will forever remain etched in our memories. There was an extraordinary radiance within you, one we always admired. We are heartbroken that the world has extinguished that brilliance.
Five Seconds of Summer, an Australian pop group, originated in Sydney back in 2011. It wasn’t until 2013 that they gained significant international recognition, being asked to open for One Direction during their Take Me Home concert tour.
1D band member Louis Tomlinson initially came across 5 Seconds of Summer on YouTube. In the year 2014, they were also part of the opening acts during One Direction’s “Where We Are Tour” in the USA, Canada, U.K., and Europe. In their tribute to Liam, they expressed their gratitude saying, “You had faith in us, something for which we are eternally thankful. It’s possible we didn’t thank you enough.
The pop band signed off the tribute to Liam saying, “We hope you’ll always be singing up there.” They also uploaded a reminiscent picture of all nine members of One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer together in a backstage area, namely, Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford, Calum Hood, and Ashton Irwin alongside Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, and Zayn Malik.
On October 16, Liam unfortunately passed away following a fall from the balcony on the third floor of the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires. His previous band, One Direction, mourned his death, stating that he was more than just a bandmate to them – he was their brother, and they were profoundly affected by this heartbreaking event.
