Reese Witherspoon is planning to revive the character of Elle Woods on-screen by creating a prequel series for Amazon Prime Video, and it appears that the hunt for a new Elle has reached its final stages. Two up-and-coming actresses, Lexi Minetree and Madison Wolfe, are being strongly considered for the main role.

The forthcoming series will delve into Elle’s time at high school, offering viewers a peek into the formative life events that molded her prior to her entrance at Harvard Law. Reese, managing the production through her firm Hello Sunshine, expressed on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon that the casting process has been quite comprehensive. “I’m smitten by them all,” she said, adding, “They’re doing such a fantastic job,” praising the numerous young actresses who tried out for the roles.

Both Lexi Minetree and Madison Wolfe have auditioned for the part, but a definitive choice hasn’t been made as of now. Industry insiders anticipate a decision to be announced shortly.

Lexi Minetree is primarily recognized for her part in The Murdaugh Murders series on Tubi. Besides this, she has made appearances on Law & Order: SVU and will star in the upcoming Lifetime film titled My Amish Double Life, which is scheduled to debut on February 22nd.

Madison Wolfe boasts a solid foundation in both television and cinema. She’s showcased her talent in series like True Detective, Mayfair Witches, and CBS’s Zoo. Her film resume includes The Conjuring 2, Malignant, and The Man in the White Van.

The prequel series titled “Elle’s Early Years” is being created by Laura Kittrell, known for her work on “Insecure” and “High School”. She will take charge as the showrunner. Reese Witherspoon, together with Lauren Neustadter, Lauren Kisilevsky, and Marc Platt, are producing this series under Hello Sunshine and Amazon MGM Studios. Excited by the success of Netflix’s “Wednesday”, Witherspoon is eager to share Elle’s early life story with a new audience.
