Should you be patient, you’ll have another opportunity to witness a legendary, prize-winning Broadway show. The individual who initially introduced Aaron Burr to the Big Apple’s main stage is making a comeback. Leslie Odom, Jr., known for his role as Aaron Burr in Hamilton, will reprise his part this autumn on Broadway. This second act is included in the musical’s tenth anniversary celebration.
New York City is set to welcome back the actor who portrayed the murderer of Alexander Hamilton. The individual in question, Leslie Odom, Jr., will reprise his award-winning role that earned him the 2016 Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical.
The skilled performer announced on social media (originally reported by Variety), “I seem to have been destined for the stage at the Richard Rodgers theater.” He wrote, “[Hamilton] opened on my birthday a decade ago and led me to discover the person I’d always been waiting to become. From September 9th to December 25th this year, I will revisit the place where I was born. It’s going to be fantastic to be back home. See you there soon!
His run will carry him up until November 23rd. Additionally, this will be his initial portrayal of the character, a role he first played off-Broadway in 2015 before the show’s Broadway premiere on August 6, 2015. Interestingly, this will be a reprisal of the role for Odom Jr., happening in July 2016. Although the musical has been staged globally since then, with numerous actors stepping into the shoes of Alexander Hamilton’s primary adversary, Disney+ made it possible for audiences worldwide to witness Odom Jr.’s performance. They recorded the show, along with the original Broadway cast, and it is still available for viewing today.
Watching him perform on screen isn’t quite the same experience as being present in the actual event. However, for those who are patient, the opportunity to be there will come around once more.
