It’s common to feel embarrassed when watching yourself on video or hearing your own voice. We tend to be overly critical, both of ourselves and others. This discomfort can even affect people who appear on camera professionally, like actors. For example, Leonardo DiCaprio recently admitted he’s never watched his famous movie, Titanic – the classic film where he starred alongside Kate Winslet as Jack and Rose.
During a conversation with Jennifer Lawrence for Variety‘s “Actors on Actors” series, Leonardo DiCaprio revealed he turned down the role in Boogie Nights due to a scheduling conflict with Titanic. Lawrence then asked if he’d revisited Titanic recently, and DiCaprio surprisingly admitted he’s never actually watched the film.
Lawrence enthusiastically recommended that DiCaprio watch Titanic, calling it a fantastic movie. DiCaprio, however, explained he rarely watches his own films. It seems like he’s overlooking some truly great work! They went on to discuss their early careers and experiences working with well-known directors. Perhaps someday, Leonardo DiCaprio will find the time to revisit Titanic.
