It’s common to feel embarrassed when watching yourself on video or listening to your own voice – many of us are simply too critical. This self-consciousness can even affect people who appear on camera professionally, like actors. Leonardo DiCaprio, for example, recently shared that he’s never re-watched his famous film, Titanic, the classic movie where he starred alongside Kate Winslet as Jack and Rose.
During a conversation with Jennifer Lawrence for Variety & CNN Actors on Actors, Leonardo DiCaprio revealed he turned down the role in Boogie Nights because it conflicted with filming Titanic. Lawrence then asked if he’d watched Titanic recently, and DiCaprio said he hadn’t. It’s surprising he hasn’t revisited such a famous film.
Lawrence enthusiastically recommended that DiCaprio watch Titanic again, calling it a fantastic film. DiCaprio, however, admitted he rarely watches his own movies. It seems like he’s overlooking some truly great work! They went on to discuss their early careers and experiences working with famous directors. Perhaps someday, Leonardo DiCaprio will find the time – about three hours – to revisit Titanic.
