Leonardo DiCaprio is contributing to aid California’s recovery from the destructive wildfires. On Wednesday, January 15th, the Academy Award-winning actor, who is 50 years old, shared on his Instagram Stories that he will be donating $1 million towards these relief efforts.

As a conscientious advocate for sustainable living, I’m deeply saddened by the destructive impact of the wildfires in Los Angeles. To help alleviate this crisis, I am pledging $1 million alongside @rewild’s Rapid Response Program. This contribution will be directed towards immediate necessities and post-fire restoration efforts in our beloved city.

The initial assistance will directly support organizations like the LA Fire Department Foundation, California Fire Foundation, World Central Kitchen, California Community Foundation, Pasadena Humane Society, and SoCal Fire Fund. These groups are actively supplying crucial resources to our firefighters and first responders, as well as those who are most in need, including people, animals, and affected communities,” stated the actor from Flower Moon.

Leonardo DiCaprio, a native of Los Angeles, helped establish the organization Re:Wild. He emphasized that their Rapid Response Program stands out as it is particularly capable of addressing and responding promptly to environmental crises and emergencies.

On January 7, the wildfires that broke out have so far been the most devastating in Los Angeles’ history. Over 2,000 residents have been forced to flee their homes, and the current death count stands at 25.

Expressing her support for the city, state, and its residents, she stated this on January 9th.
