Lenny Kravitz Takes on Role of Bond Villain

Lenny Kravitz will be appearing as the villain in the new James Bond video game, 007: First Light. The game was announced at the Game Awards.

Kravitz plays a powerful and unpredictable drug kingpin, the biggest in the Western Hemisphere. His character built a criminal empire, rising from poverty to become a dominant force, and calls it the Kingdom of Aleph.

Bawma will be a significant challenge for a young James Bond, played by Patrick Gibson. Gibson’s portrayal shows Bond as a 26-year-old spy who is still gaining experience.

I’m playing the role of Bawma in the new 007 game, First Light. Bawma is a powerful and unpredictable black-market dealer who controls a vast criminal empire in the Western Hemisphere. He started with nothing and worked his way up to build his own kingdom, called Aleph.

007: First Light is an action-adventure game played from a third-person perspective. It features a new story rooted in the world of James Bond, drawing inspiration from both Ian Fleming’s novels and the popular films. The game explores Bond’s beginnings, detailing the dangerous mission that ultimately leads to him becoming a 00 agent.

The game features both returning characters like M (played by Priyanga Burford), Q (Alastair Mackenzie), and Miss Moneypenny (Kiera Lester), as well as new faces. These include John Greenway, an MI6 mentor portrayed by Lennie James, DGSE agent Miss Roth played by Noémie Nakai, Selina Tan (Gemma Chan), and Bawma.

IO Interactive, the studio behind the Hitman games, is creating a new Bond experience that updates the story and avoids old-fashioned depictions of how Bond treats women. The game will also feature iconic gadgets and vehicles—like a never-before-seen Omega watch and the Aston Martin Valhalla—all updated for modern gameplay.

It’s been a while since a big James Bond video game – the last one, 007 Legends, came out in 2012. IO Interactive first announced this new game in 2020 and started working on it fully after finishing Hitman 3 in 2021. We got a complete look at the game in June 2025, and it’s scheduled to launch on March 27, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
