Leighton Meester recently shared her feelings about encountering fresh and younger admirers of her classic yet captivating show, Gossip Girl. In a recent chat, the actress revealed that she’s been noticed by fans of Gossip Girl who were so young they weren’t even born when the series initially premiered.
During interviews with Access Hollywood while promoting her latest show Good Cop/Bad Cop, Meester shared her sentiments regarding interacting with young admirers, as they gushed over their fondness for Gossip Girl.
If you’re unfamiliar, Gossip Girl aired for an impressive six seasons from 2007 up until 2023. During this time, Leighton Meester showcased her acting skills as Blair Waldorf, who reigned supreme among the Upper East Side’s social elite.
She excitedly declared, “Now folks are saying it’s old-school,” and later in the conversation, Meester shared that when interacting with younger fans, she tells them, “The show started before you were born.” She mentioned that the series is still gaining new followers to this day.
The actress conveyed her amazement at encountering fresh admirers, stating that the series consistently attracts new viewers daily.
Reflecting on the fact that social media didn’t exist when the show first aired, Meester remarked that there is a strong sense of nostalgia for the series among viewers, with many finding solace and connection in its narrative.
The actress from That’s My Boy stated that it doesn’t matter if they’ve already watched it or are planning to see it for the first time.
If you haven’t seen the show, “Gossip Girl” focuses on a circle of privileged high school students and delves into their everyday experiences, often finding themselves entangled in various scandals amidst their lavish lifestyle as part of New York City’s elite society in Manhattan.
