In the gripping trailer for season three of Apple TV’s adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s series “Foundation,” three points stand out. Firstly, it’s evident that the Mule poses a threat to the entire universe, and there seems to be only one individual with the power to thwart him. Secondly, this season promises intense and heartrending events. Lastly, each episode is expected to generate memes featuring Lee Pace, who looks more like a muscular savior in every scene.
The destiny of the universe is precarious in this fresh perspective on ‘Foundation’. The trailer for ‘Foundation’ season three hints at a looming menace that will force old enemies to join forces. This alliance could be mankind’s only chance to evade an impending era of darkness. What makes Pilou Asbæk’s character, the Mule, so perilous? To accompany the new ‘Foundation’ trailer, here’s the official season three synopsis from Apple:
(Synopsis) In this third season of Foundation, the fall of the Galactic Empire is imminent. The enigmatic and powerful Mule threatens the fragile peace that exists among the Foundation and its allies. As chaos ensues, a group of powerful psychohistorians, led by Hari Seldon, race against time to find a solution to save humanity from destruction.
152 years following the events of season two, The Foundation has grown significantly from its modest beginnings, whereas the once powerful Cleonic Empire has weakened. An uneasy alliance forms between these two galactic forces, but a new danger looms in the form of a warlord named “The Mule,” who aims to conquer the universe through physical and military might, as well as mind control. The outcome remains uncertain as Hari Seldon, Gaal Dornick, the Cleons, and Demerzel navigate a potentially lethal game of interstellar chess, with the fate of many at stake.
In the third installment, I’ll be part of a diverse cast joining familiar faces like Pace, Jared Harris, and Lou Llobell. Newcomers such as Cherry Jones, Brandon P. Bell, Synnøve Karlsen, Cody Fern, Tómas Lemarquis, Alexander Siddig, and the Academy Award-winning Troy Kotsur will also be jumping into the interstellar fray/chaos. The Foundation season three trailer, available above, offers a glimpse of many of these new faces in action.
In the latest trailer for season three of “Foundation”, Lee Pace’s appearance has been generating quite a buzz. The visuals suggest a charismatic messiah figure, so we could jokingly comment that he must be able to transform water into protein shakes at his gym, or speculate that he might inspire some viewers to start a new religion based on his impressive beard and physique. We might even joke that instead of traditional prayers, those attending his church will now exclaim, “A-Man!” instead.
Moving forward seems plausible. However, it’s likely the internet will handle that task for us in due time. The third season of “Foundation” with a total of ten episodes is set to premiere on Apple TV on July 11, 2025, Friday.
