The first official trailer for Lee Cronin’s horror movie, The Mummy, is here, giving audiences a glimpse of what’s to come. Warner Bros. Pictures will release the film in theaters and IMAX on April 17th. This Mummy movie isn’t connected to the earlier films starring Brendan Fraser and aims for a scarier, more enigmatic approach to the classic story.
The movie The Mummy centers around a family dealing with the mysterious return of their daughter. Eight years after disappearing in the desert, the young girl reappears, but what seems like a joyful reunion soon becomes terrifying, as described in the movie’s official summary.
Lee Cronin directed the recent horror film Evil Dead Rise (2023), which is part of the long-running Evil Dead series created by Sam Raimi. He also directed the 2019 film The Hole in the Ground, and will be an executive producer on the upcoming Evil Dead Burn and Evil Dead Wrath.

The film stars Jack Reynor, Laia Costa, May Calamawy, Natalie Grace, and Veronica Falcón. James Wan, Jason Blum, and John Keville produced the movie, with additional executive production from Cronin, Michael Clear, Judson Scott, and Macdara Kelleher.
I recently read an interview with the director, and it sounds like this new Mummy movie is going to be something really special. He described it as a total mystery, almost like a puzzle you unravel as you watch. That’s what really drew him to the project. He’s always been fascinated by Egyptian history and the idea of hidden secrets, and he wanted to make a film that really captured that feeling of uncovering something ancient and unknown. He emphasized that this isn’t just another remake or rehash of the usual Mummy tropes; they’re digging deeper, exploring darker territory, and aiming to surprise even those of us who think we already know the story.
Now that the first trailer is available, viewers are getting a taste of director Cronin’s unique horror style, which combines suspense, mystery, and a truly frightening atmosphere. The Mummy appears poised to solidify Cronin’s place as one of the most creative directors working in horror today.
