He explained that he’s always been fascinated by Egyptian history and its hidden secrets, and wanted the movie to reflect that sense of uncovering something long buried. Cronin emphasized that this film isn’t simply a retelling of the classic mummy story, but rather an exploration of darker themes and a fresh perspective on familiar ideas.
Director Cronin described his film as a unique blend of two classics: Poltergeist and Seven, but with his own distinctive style and focus on entertaining audiences. Seven, released in 1995 and starring Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman, is a crime thriller about detectives hunting a serial killer whose crimes are inspired by the seven deadly sins. Poltergeist, on the other hand, centers around supernatural forces that terrorize a family and kidnap their daughter from what seems like a perfect home.
