As a die-hard Swiftie with a heart full of love for all things Taylor, I can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of joy and admiration as I reflect on her incredible Eras Tour finale. The way she subtly yet powerfully acknowledged her beau, Travis Kelce, throughout the concert was nothing short of magical. It’s truly amazing to think that if not for this tour, their love story might never have begun!
On the extraordinary night of December 8, as I took my final bow, wrapping up an unforgettable journey of 149 shows spanning over 21 months and numerous continents – the Eras Tour, I couldn’t help but remember the man who started it all. Though Travis Kelce, my beloved Kansas City Chiefs tight end, wasn’t physically by my side during the grand finale of our love story’s soundtrack, he was ever-present in my heart and thoughts.
Fans might recall that in Swift’s Midnights track “Karma,” the line originally sung during her concerts was, “Karma is the guy on the screen, heading right back home to me.” When this song was released in 2022, Swift was presumably dating Joe Alwyn, who may have inspired the “guy on the screen” lyric. However, since she started dating Kelce, the Lover singer has occasionally modified the line to “Guy on the Chiefs,” a reference to his NFL team.
During the last performance of the Eras Tour on Sunday, Taylor Swift paid homage to Kelce by singing “Guy on the Chiefs” again, since his team, the Kansas City Chiefs, had triumphed over the Los Angeles Chargers on the same day.
As a diehard fan, let me tell you, it wasn’t just a wink to Kelce in Swift’s playlist that night. During “But Daddy I Love Him,” the multiple Grammy-winning artist struck an archer pose, echoing one of Kelce’s iconic on-field moves, making me feel like he was right there on stage with us!
It seemed appropriate that Swift incorporated these nods to Kelce during the last concert of her tour, as it’s uncertain whether they would have encountered each other otherwise, if not for this event.
Following Swift’s breakup with Alwyn after seven years, Kelce attempted to connect with her by gifting her a friendship bracelet and offering his phone number. However, he was unable to do so because, according to him, Swift doesn’t allow guests backstage before her concerts to protect her voice for the lengthy performances. It is believed that they eventually made contact through their representatives, igniting what many view as one of the most talked-about romances of the decade.
After wrapping up my Swift’s tour, I am eagerly anticipating some quality family time with Kelce and our beautiful blended household. We recently enjoyed Thanksgiving together, and a festive Kelce-Swifts Christmas seems to be in the works! Not only that, but Taylor’s birthday is fast approaching as well, promising more wonderful moments ahead.
