Leaked Superman Review Sparks HUGE Online Feud!

As a passionate fan, I must say that the prematurely leaked review for “Superman” has sent shockwaves throughout the digital world, sparking a flurry of anticipation and discussion even before Warner Bros.’ official embargo on July 8.

Essentially, journalists covering events hosted by Warner Bros. are restricted from publishing their opinions or responses until they receive permission from Warner Bros. first.

To put it frankly, I’m not entirely sure about the mechanics behind press screenings or movie review embargoes as I haven’t been granted the opportunity to experience them. However, recently Universal requested that I remove my initial review of Jurassic World: Rebirth, despite the fact that I wasn’t asked to attend a press screening nor was under any embargo agreement (for clarification, I chose not to comply with their request since I opted to watch the movie on my own).

Over time, I’ve accepted numerous embargoes for press releases. Here’s how it typically goes: When they want to share information ahead of time, they request that you agree to an embargo date. If you consent, they send the information so you can plan your coverage in advance. If you don’t respond or refuse, you won’t receive the information. It seems plausible that this process might also apply to movie screenings.

Superman Review Controversy Explodes Across The Daily Beast, Variety, and Bluesky

Concerning James Gunn’s movie Superman, it seems that The Daily Beast published its critique ahead of schedule, and the review was quite unfavorable, to put it mildly.

Initially, Variety referred to Superman in their review for John Cena’s latest movie, Heads of State. However, they later revised their article and removed that reference. Regardless, we managed to save a copy before they did – here are the screenshots as proof.

In response to The Daily Beast’s review, which gained significant attention online, a critic from Uproxx decided to break his embargo and expressed his strong disagreement about the review on the social media platform Bluesky.

The critic expressed their disagreement with the leaked review, stating that they strongly believe it is incorrect, despite potentially facing consequences for doing so.

James Gunn’s Superman: fans will love or hate it

The responses from The Daily Beast, Variety, and Uproxx align with our initial post based on the WB insider’s personal review, indicating that the public’s reactions to James Gunn’s Superman will likely range from strong admiration to intense dislike.

The tipster indicated that die-hard Zack Snyder DCEU followers might dislike Gunn’s Superman film, comic book enthusiasts will appreciate Gunn’s Superman movie, and a general audience might struggle to understand it due to potential over-the-top humor.

In a tweet, I expressed my belief that Gunn aims to win back his Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) followers from the hilariously successful yet unconventional ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’. While many are already acquainted with Superman, they were largely unfamiliar with the Guardians. Interestingly, our team had a hand in promoting the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ comics before Gunn joined the film project. I foresaw this scenario, years ago.

As a movie enthusiast, I’m excited to catch Superman on Tuesday, but whether it turns out to be a hit or miss isn’t my call – that belongs to the audience who decides to watch Gunn’s new take on Man of Steel this summer. frankly speaking, Gunn’s Superman is teetering on the edge of success, given that 28 Years Later, F1, Jurassic World: Rebirth, and Jurassic World seem to be underperforming at the box office so far, and there doesn’t appear to be much anticipation for Fantastic Four.

The main question at hand is: Will Gunn succeed? It appears that not only does the fate of DC hang on Gunn, but also, quite possibly, the entire future of the superhero genre. Given that the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has seen a significant decline post-Endgame, and Sony is said to have abandoned their Spider-Man spinoff universe.

Will the fans win? Or Gunn’s ego?

We’ll find out next week.
