The buzz surrounding HoYoverse’s upcoming games, Petit Planet and Honkai: Nexus Anima, is growing as their official reveals approach later in the year. While many had speculated that Honkai: Nexus Anima would serve as a Pokémon-like rival, leaked images suggest a shift in direction. It appears that Honkai: Nexus Anima may actually be an auto-chess game.
A snapshot taken within the game depicts a field shaped like a rectangle, where miniature character figures are positioned diagonally opposite one another in the corners. Over these characters, smaller rectangular frames contain various creatures and items. In the central area, mythical beasts engage in combat with one another, displaying their levels, health, and energy gauges.
It seems there’s also an element of an open world, as other screenshots display regular-sized characters wandering a city on foot and even atop creatures. As previously hinted in the introductory trailer, the game features both new characters and characters from different HoYoverse franchises.
Typically, data from leaks should be viewed cautiously, as we’re examining these pictures devoid of any background details which might lead to incorrect interpretations.
Building upon the popularity of the auto-chess custom game within Dota 2, numerous developers have introduced their own spin on the genre, with some achieving significant success, such as Riot Games’ Teamfight Tactics. Notably, TFT has gained considerable popularity in China. It’s worth noting that several games developed by HoYoverse – Honkai Impact 3rd, Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero – have recently incorporated auto-chess-style gameplay as part of special events.
Earlier this week, DBLTAP learned that Petit Planet will come to Nintendo Switch.
