Pictures from a God of War multiplayer game that was never released have recently appeared online, offering fans a look at the game’s potential features.
Screenshots recently published by MP1st suggest the next game will take players back to Greece, where the original games were set. They also hint at the return of a significant enemy from Kratos’ history.
Earlier this year, Sony cancelled two games that were in development – one by Bend Studio and another by Bluepoint Games. It was widely suspected that Bluepoint Games was working on a multiplayer version of God of War, and recent information appears to confirm those rumors.
The pictures depict diverse settings, ranging from shadowy caves to impressive temples. Two images are specifically marked as “Hades’ Armory,” presenting the same location in both a pristine and a corrupted state—the latter covered in unusual, rust-colored markings that suggest a curse.
Recently, screenshots have surfaced that are claimed to be from a cancelled multiplayer God of War game developed by Bluepoint Games, set in ancient Greece. The game was likely intended as a prequel to God of War III. However, Sony reportedly lost faith in the project’s potential and cancelled it in January 2025.

The mention of his name suggests Hades, the God of the Underworld, is returning. He was a key villain in the original 2005 God of War game and later a major enemy in God of War III, where Kratos killed him. It’s a mystery how Bluepoint Games intends to revive him.
The game’s environment is also noteworthy. While the project is heavily inspired by Greek mythology, some design elements in the images appear to have a Norse influence, hinting that the developers might be combining elements from both mythologies or were exploring different visual styles.
Sony hasn’t officially commented on the recent leaks or revealed future plans for the God of War series. However, given the huge success of both God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarök (2022), it’s likely the series will continue. Fans are eager to find out where Kratos’ journey will take him next.
If the recent information is accurate, Bluepoint Games was working on a really ambitious God of War project. It would have combined different mythologies, featured classic gods, and allowed players to team up and battle together. Right now, fans can only look at the available images and wonder what kind of epic experience it could have been.
