In the initial Lazarus episode titled ‘Farewell Bitter World,’ the story unfolds as Axel Gilberto is visited in prison by a woman named Hersch. She discloses that Dr. Skinner has resurfaced following a three-year absence, sharing a startling revelation about his wonder drug, Hapuna. The drug will prove fatal to its users precisely three years after their initial dose, and this lethal countdown begins in just 30 days.
Initially, Axel shuns collaboration and slips away amidst worldwide turmoil. Later, a group manages to apprehend him using a stun gun. After regaining consciousness in an abandoned barber shop, Hersch communicates with him from afar and informs him that he’s now been inducted into her Lazarus squad.
In Episode 2 of Lazarus, we’ll delve into Axel’s journey as he teams up with Lazarus, a unit tasked with finding Dr. Skinner. Hacker Elena discovers that Skinner owned a nuclear bunker in the past. As a result, the group decides to split into two teams to explore the shelter and the company that sold it.
Yet, they’re disrupted by enigmatic, unrecognizable individuals from an undetermined country who unexpectedly materialize. Amidst the growing chaos and mounting tension, the Lazarus team must deal with these assailants as they persist in their pressing pursuit of Skinner.
On the night of April 13, 2025, at 11:45 pm (Japan Standard Time), Lazarus Episode 2 titled ‘Life in the Fast Lane’ will be aired on various Japanese television networks. These include Tokyo TV, Osaka TV, TV Aichi, Hokkaido TV, TV Setouchi, and TV Kyushu.
Starting from May 10, 2025, at 10 pm Japan Standard Time (JST), Animax will broadcast the episodes of Lazarus. For viewers around the world, they can catch Episode 2 on Toonami and Adult Swim, ensuring they stay updated with the series right after its Japanese debut.
