Larry David Reunites With HBO for New Sketch Comedy Limited Series

Summary

  • Larry David returns to HBO with a six-episode sketch comedy series on American history
  • He will star, write, and executive produce with Jeff Schaffer and the Obamas
  • This marks David’s comeback after Curb Your Enthusiasm ended, aiming to celebrate America’s history

I’m thrilled to share that the brilliant mind behind “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” none other than Larry David, is gracing our screens once again on HBO! This time, it’s a new limited series – another opportunity to witness his unique brand of humor and storytelling.

According to Variety, the upcoming project is a limited series of sketch comedy focusing on American history. LD will both star in and co-write this six-episode show with Jeff Schaffer, who serves as showrunner, executive producer, and regular director for Curb. Schaffer will also direct the series and produce it alongside David and Barack Obama under their Higher Ground Productions label. Vinnie Malhotra and Ethan Lewis will also serve as executive producers.

On the occasion of America’s 250th anniversary, President and Mrs. Obama planned a special event to celebrate our distinctive national history… However, an unexpected call came from Larry David.

When ‘Curb’ finished, LD threw a three-day foam party to celebrate, but later had an allergic reaction to the bubbles and missed his peaceful life as a beekeeper. Unfortunately, one day all his bees disappeared. With a heavy heart, he now goes back to television, hoping that working on a new show can help him cope with the loss of his hive.

I’ve faced tough leaders worldwide and tackled our most stubborn issues at the same table, but nothing quite prepares me for dealing with Larry David,” said former President Obama.

Schaffer remarked that the roles Larry portrayed did not alter historical events. On the contrary, they were seldom recognized by history, and this is actually a positive aspect.

As a devoted fan, I can hardly recall a period prior to ‘Curb’ or without Larry David’s unique take on contemporary existence. I’m overjoyed that he’s returning to HBO, this time collaborating with Higher Ground, to offer us an insightful look at our collective past as we mark our Semiquincentennial celebration together.

Curb Your Enthusiasm was on the air for a grand total of 12 seasons, stretching from 2000 to the year 2024. However, there were lengthy pauses in between these seasons. Throughout its broadcast, it received more than 50 nominations for both Emmy and Golden Globe awards.

Stay tuned for an official traile and release date.
