Lady Gaga Reacts to Die With a Smile Hitting No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100: ‘Thank You to All of the Monsters’

On Monday, January 6, the joint hit “Die With a Smile” by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars climbed to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, causing Lady Gaga to express her excitement about the song’s success on various social media platforms.

Gaga expressed her gratitude to all ‘monsters’ and ‘hooligans’ via Instagram for making Die With a Smile reach number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. She affectionately refers to these fanbases as hers and Mars’ own. She loves them dearly and is truly thankful.

The Grammy-winning artist also acknowledged a significant career achievement, expressing, “Reaching number one with various songs of mine spanning three decades seems unreal, and I’m overwhelmed by the love and support you’ve given me since the start. There’s even more to come, and I can hardly wait to share it all with you.

Lady Gaga’s hit songs that reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 span different decades. In the 2000s, she had tracks like Just Dance and Poker Face, while Born This Way and Shallow were popular in the 2010s. More recently, Rain on Me and Die With a Smile have been successful for her in the 2020s.

The newest song is a soft rock piece where both Gaga and Mars express a yearning to be near their loved ones. In the chorus, they passionately sing, “If the world was ending, I’d want to be by your side / If the festivities ended, and our time on Earth had run out / I’d want to embrace you for a moment / And depart with a grin.

Lady Gaga, known for her song Born This Way, likewise posted a video on Instagram on January 7, expressing her feelings about the success of Die With a Smile. “I’m truly humbled to be an artist and to have had your attention for such a long time,” she expressed in the video. “Thank you for listening, dancing, and creating art together with mine. I am incredibly grateful.

In August 2024, Gaga released “Die With a Smile,” followed by “Disease” in October. These tracks are set to feature on her forthcoming seventh studio album.
