Lady Gaga Details How Engagement to Michael Polansky Inspired Her to Write Blade of Grass; Says ‘Had to Fight…’

For approximately a year now, Lady Gaga and Michael Polansky have been an item, and their tender experiences have motivated the artist to write her newest composition titled “Blade of Grass.

The song will be included on the album titled “Mayhem.” During an interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music, the star of “Joker: Folie a Deux” reminisced about asking her partner to simply loop a blade of grass around her finger. Inspired by the emotions of Polansky, she penned the song.

Discussing the specific instance when her fiancé popped the question, Lady Gaga stated, “As a lyricist, I draw inspiration from life, and if everything is just for publicity, then I’ll write about promotion instead of writing about that unique moment between us when Michael asked me how he should propose to me someday.

She went on to explain, “We were out in our garden when I instructed him, ‘Go ahead and roll a piece of grass around your finger.’ Afterward, I titled it ‘Blade of Grass,’ as I could vividly recall his expression, the grass in our yard, and my thought that he should use the long grass growing right at the center.

On April 1, 2024, Polansky suggested a ring featuring a large oval diamond to the singer. The renowned Bloody Mary vocalist explained that fans might have been curious about why she wasn’t promoting or releasing new music, but she felt compelled to bestow a gift upon what is of utmost importance to her.
