Lady Death Could Be the Ultimate Villain for the ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Sequel After ‘Secret Wars’

As a long-time comic book enthusiast who has witnessed the evolution of characters from the pages to the silver screen, I can confidently say that the introduction of Lady Death in the MCU is nothing short of exhilarating! Aubrey Plaza’s portrayal of this enigmatic character has added a fresh, campy twist to the universe and left fans yearning for more.

In the recent Marvel Cinematic Universe productions, Deadpool & Wolverine and Agatha All Along, some fresh and intriguing characters were added, such as Deadpool and Lady Death. Fans have enjoyed Aubrey Plaza’s performance as Lady Death, finding it both entertaining and over-the-top, and they are eagerly anticipating her return in upcoming projects.

From a dedicated fan’s perspective, it seems that Lady Death would perfectly suit the Deadpool movie universe, given their unique dynamic together. With Thanos no longer dominating the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), there’s an opportunity for fresh love stories to unfold. The way Plaza portrays Lady Death is unlike any version of her we’ve seen before, and many fans believe that Death holds a special place in Deadpool’s heart, much like Mary Jane for Spider-Man or Lois Lane for Superman. As an immortal, Deadpool constantly struggles to be with Death, and it would be exciting to see this complex relationship play out on the big screen.

In the midst of his ordeal at Weapon X, Deadpool encountered Death and developed romantic feelings for her. Yet, challenges arose in their relationship as Thanos, who had an intense fixation on Death, attempted to seize her away from him.

As a devoted fan, I’d rephrase that as follows: Thanos, the villain I adore to hate, doomed Deadpool with eternal life, preventing him from meeting his end. Despite Deadpool’s relentless efforts to find a loophole, his regenerative abilities keep him alive and kicking, creating an awkward dynamic with Death whenever he brushes against mortality.

In the end, Thanos removed the spell so that Deadpool could be with Death, but their bond had become tense by then and they had split up. Subsequently, Deadpool wed a succubus called Shiklah, yet over time they drifted apart, leading to her eventually tying the knot with Dracula instead.

Following the removal of the curse, Deadpool and Death never truly reconciled until the final comic series, “Deadpool: The End”. In this storyline, Deadpool embarks on a quest to eliminate Death in order to spare his 97-year-old daughter who was nearing her end. However, things don’t go as planned, for his daughter devises an alternative strategy and presents them with a bomb that would take their lives together. When the bomb explodes, Death materializes behind them, gently placing her hands on their shoulders.

Just like Deadpool’s signature style, the comic offers various conclusions for readers to decide on. The thrilling climax presents Deadpool reuniting with Death, thereby ascending to the throne of Hell, a long-awaited union between the two.

The MCU could take a different approach.

With Thanos out of the scene, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has an opportunity to explore a fresh strategy that aligns with Rio Vidal’s ongoing narrative within the cinematic world. Post the Secret Wars and the anticipated MCU reboot, Deadpool might be the sole character who recalls events prior to the reset, which could position him as the central figure for Lady Death.

In both the comic books and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Deadpool appears to be virtually indestructible. Despite yearning for death following the loss of Vanessa, he has proven impossible to kill, regardless of the severity of his self-inflicted injuries.

In the series “Agatha All Along“, it’s revealed that Lady Death intended to eliminate Billy as his reincarnation was deemed unnatural, and she also targeted Agatha due to her exceptionally long lifespan. We discover that Billy can only meet a permanent end if he chooses it himself; otherwise, he will continue to reincarnate, disrupting the natural course of things.

As a die-hard gamer, imagine diving into a new quest where the narrative unfolds with Death itself chasing after Deadpool due to his extraordinary immortality and fourth wall-breaking antics. In the latest chapter, Deadpool & Wolverine, it’s clear that Vanessa is no longer part of the picture for ol’ Deadpool – she appears to have found a new connection with someone else, leaving him single in the storyline.

In the comic series “Deadpool & Wolverine“, it appears that Lady Death is bent on eliminating Deadpool and claiming his soul. However, through a surprising turn of events, Deadpool manages to win her affections by returning her feelings. Their shared humor and unconventional behavior resonate deeply with each other, reflecting their mutual eccentricities.

Although a confirmation for Deadpool & Wolverine 2 is yet to come, whispers from the grapevine hint that the sequel may be under preliminary discussions or planning. It’s highly likely that Lady Death will at least get a mention in the script, given her significant role as one of Deadpool’s most prominent relationships in the comics.
