It seems that someone doubts the demise of dreamy romantic comedies; the forthcoming film “La Dolce Villa” has stirred anticipation prior to its premiere. This upcoming rom-com, set to be streamed on Netflix, appears to make an ideal viewing choice for Valentine’s Day.
The film centers on Eric, a businessman, who journeys to Italy in an attempt to prevent his daughter Olivia from using her funds to renovate a villa she purchased for just a euro. However, his plans take an unexpected turn as he embarks on a fresh chapter of his life, encountering love and breathtaking sights.
According to Netflix’s description, “Eric is initially concerned when his daughter buys a dilapidated Italian villa. He goes to Italy to try and change her mind, but instead, he discovers the charm, love, and renewed meaning in life.
The movie showcases a skilled ensemble of actors such as Scott Foley, Maia Reficco, Violante Placido, Giuseppe Futia, Simone Luglio, Tommaso Basili, Daniel Panzironi, Nunzia Schiano, Luisa De Santis, Lucia Ricalzone, Giselle Gant, Madior Fall, Jenny De Nucci, Mitch Salm, Melanie Neu, Ettore Nicoletti, Loris Loddi, and Sinne Mutsaers, as listed on IMDb.
This venture is led by no less than Mark Waters, a well-known director famed for movies such as Mother of the Bride, Freaky Friday, and Mean Girls.
For the upcoming project, the screenplay has been written by Hilary Galanoy and Elizabeth Hackett. According to reports, Robyn Snyder and Deb Evans are set to serve as producers.
As stated in an article by Tudum on Netflix, when discussing the project, producer Snyder expressed his optimism, saying “Since it’s set in Italy, the potential is outstanding!” He further elaborated, “This romance isn’t limited to personal relationships; it encompasses each individual’s life goals and even the country itself.
According to reports, Foley expressed his eagerness during the conversation, stating that he’s striving to build a unique and fresh bond with his daughter throughout this film’s narrative.
The audience can catch La Dolce Villa on February 13, 2025, on Netflix.
