Kyle MacLachlan Shares Emotionally Charged Tribute for David Lynch: ‘What I Saw in Him Was…’

On January 16th, the news about David Lynch’s passing came as a profound shock to many, sparking a flood of heartfelt tributes across social media platforms from fans and colleagues alike. Actor Kyle MacLachlan, who worked closely with Lynch, also paid homage, acknowledging the significant influence the filmmaker had on his career.

In a recent social media post featuring a carousel, MacLachlan reminisced about his past collaboration with the late filmmaker David Lynch. He wrote that forty-two years ago, “For reasons I still don’t fully understand, David Lynch selected me from obscurity to star in his debut and only major budget film.

The artist wrote that it was evident Lynch recognized a quality in him which he himself had failed to perceive.

MacLachlan credited his entire career and life to the director’s “vision.” In his own words, “I saw in him an enigmatic, intuitive individual with a creative torrent flowing within. He tapped into something that the rest of us strive to reach.

In the realm of cinema, I’ve been fortunate to forge a lasting friendship with the late, great David Lynch, a relationship that blossomed on the sets of our collaborations like “Blue Velvet” (1986) and “Twin Peaks” (1990). Our creative journeys together have allowed me to delve deeper into his extraordinary imagination and mind.

He indicated that Lynch placed significantly more importance on the questions rather than the answers, as they carried greater significance. MacLachlan composed that we’ve lost an extraordinary artist, yet for him, it was a “precious friend who envisioned a future” that enabled MacLachlan to venture into realms he never could have “contemplated” on his own.

At the end, the artist thanked Lynch for their shared moments, mentioning that he will always be altered by the experience and will always be “Yours, Kale” for him. Once more, he showed his appreciation towards the director for all that had transpired.
