Kuro Games adds Wuthering Waves anniversary rewards, denounces leaks

Wuthering Waves is preparing to mark its first birthday, however, in keeping with the tradition of large open-world gacha games, the celebratory event has been overshadowed by some online turmoil. To begin with, a tepid response from players towards the announced rewards for the anniversary dampened the atmosphere – this is not unusual as gamers who play gacha games often anticipate receiving numerous free items, which can lead to feelings of disappointment and anger when these expectations are not met.

Initially, I wasn’t in the best of spirits, but things quickly took a turn for the worse. Word started spreading among players that Kuro Games intentionally announced underwhelming rewards to generate buzz later with additional freebies, boosting their public image. This theory seemed plausible when screenshots from the beta test of update 2.3 emerged, revealing assets for a login event. Naturally, we connected the dots and saw these leaks as evidence that Kuro was manipulating our perception, having already prepared materials for what appeared to be an “apology event.”

When Kuro Games unveiled extra incentives in response to criticism over their anniversary event, the negativity intensified like a tornado, causing quite a stir within the gaming community. The heated discussions online forced the developers to step in and clarify the situation.

Kuro Games clarified that some unofficial screenshots circulating online were illegally leaked, causing confusion in the community. Contrary to what was suggested by these leaks, the images do not belong to the upcoming apology login event but are actually related to the previously announced Gilded Nightmarket event.

The developer explained that any rewards related to compensation, as previously announced, will be distributed through a special Login Event. This event is being developed at the moment and is planned to go live by the end of this week.

1. In the upcoming Wuthering Waves 2.3, starting from April 29, 2025, players will receive an additional ten draws each for restricted, weapon, and standard banners as a bonus due to the login event.
