The Netflix film *KPop Demon Hunters* is returning to cinemas for another showing, perfectly timed for Halloween.
The streaming service revealed the popular animated movie will be back for special Halloween sing-along events from October 31st to November 2nd, and fans are encouraged to dress up in costume!
For the US and Canada, tickets go on sale Oct. 17 at 6 a.m. PT.
Netflix’s Biggest Hit Expands to AMC Theatres
Netflix’s Halloween event is a first for the streaming service: all three of the biggest U.S. movie theater chains – AMC, Regal, and Cinemark – are joining in.
After previously declining to show the film in August because of a disagreement over how long movies play in theaters, AMC Theatres will now screen it in approximately 400 locations in the U.S. and Europe.
AMC and Netflix are working together in a way that benefits both companies, and they’re discussing future collaborations. This is a big move for Netflix, as they don’t often show their movies in theaters again, and it’s good news for movie theaters, which are hoping for more customers during a typically quiet time of year.
Global Rollout and Box Office Boost
The Halloween sing-along will be available worldwide, including in the U.K., Ireland, Korea, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Australia, and New Zealand.
Everyone was surprised when the first movie event in late August earned an estimated $18 million at the box office over its opening weekend. This marked the first time a Netflix film reached the number one spot.
With few other major movies being released this Halloween, aside from *Bugonia* and a re-release of *Twilight*, theaters are optimistic that fans will come out in large numbers to sing along to hits like “Golden,” “Your Idol,” and “Soda Pop.”
From Streaming Sensation to Cultural Phenomenon
Netflix’s new movie, *KPop Demon Hunters*, has quickly become its most popular film ever, with viewers watching it for over 541 million hours globally. The animated film, created by Sony Pictures Animation and directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, tells the story of Rumi (Arden Cho), Mira (May Hong), and Zoey (Ji-young Yoo)—a K-pop group who secretly fight demons in their spare time.
The film became a worldwide success thanks to its blend of catchy music, imaginative fantasy elements, and heartfelt story. It even had three songs that stayed at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart for several weeks.
A sequel is currently in development, with Kang and Appelhans expected to return.
Halloween Event Ties Into Growing Franchise
Netflix’s Halloween sing-along isn’t just advertising; it’s a way to connect with fans. The event should boost interest in the movie’s music and the next installment, and it also serves as another opportunity to see how well Netflix and AMC work together in theaters.
Fans will get a special opportunity to experience *KPop Demon Hunters* again in theaters, complete with the original costumes and dance moves.
