It’s been verified that Konami is actively working on a remake of Silent Hill 1, with Bloober Team, who had success with Silent Hill 2 Remake in 2024, taking the lead on development. However, the specific platforms the game will be released on and its launch date have yet to be disclosed.
Originally launched on PlayStation in 1999, Silent Hill quickly gained fame as one of the greatest horror games ever produced, and now, a new rendition by Bloober Team promises to bring us back to its eerie roots, departing from the adaptations that came before it such as Silent Hill: Shattered Memories by Climax Studios in 2009 for Nintendo Wii.
In October 2024, Bloober Team’s remake of Silent Hill 2 was released for PlayStation 5, with plans to bring it to PC afterwards when its exclusive period of one year ends. Since some members of the original development team worked on the Remake, there’s a strong potential for continued collaboration between Bloober and Konami on future projects related to Silent Hill.
The Silent Hill 2 Remake was praised by both critics and gamers, setting a record as the fastest-selling game in the series. Within four days of its release, it had sold over a million copies, and by January 2025, sales reached two million. Given such success, it’s not surprising that Konami swiftly approved plans for a sequel.
